GOING GREEN - Things you can start doing now | |
Tips we can incorporate in our every day life to reduce the amount of CO2 we put in the air. |
If every house hold in America switched to 5 fluorescent light bulbs, it would be equivalent to taking one million cars off the highway for one year.
Switch your outdoor lighting to solar lighting. Solar lighting does not burn electricity or create CO2 emissions.
Adjust your temperature so that it's cooler in the winter and warmer in the summer when you're not in your house. This can actually reduce up to 9% of the homes CO2 emissions over the course of a year.
Changing your heating/cooling system air filters can knock 2% off of your CO2 output each year.
When purchasing an appliance, look for the environmentally efficient appliance marked with the Energy Star label. This can reduce on average, 3% of your homes CO2 emissions. You'll save money and save the environment at the same time.
