Nicole Hendricks of Balance Personal Training is the trainer and organizer of the Maricopa Makeover and has put Karen on a convenient schedule that is designed specifically to help Karen succeed in fulfilling her goals. Karen began her first session of personal training on March 3rd. She is required to keep a food journal and cardio log to chart her progress. Karen’s cardio started with a walk around the Villages at Rancho El Dorado 3 days a week to now running around the circle every day and loving it. Karen meets with Hendricks 3 days a week for a highly motivating workout that includes weight and functional training, yoga, Pilate's, kick boxing, and must follow a strict, customized program. Karen must work out at her local gym or at Balance’s in-home gym for her daily cardio. "Karen has stayed motivated throughout the entire makeover. I fell very happy to be part of her success in changing her life in a positive and healthy way," says Hendricks. Before her first workout session, Karen Jackson met with Sara Gilles Owner of Renaissance2 for a physical and blood work and was cleared by her doctor for physical training. Shortly after meeting with Sara, and before her first workout session, Karen had an accident and fell and broke her tailbone. But that didn’t stop Karen. Dr. Karen Kramarczyk of Family Dentistry of Maricopa explains the progress in giving Karen her beautiful smile. Dr. Kramarczyk, "When Karen was presented on her first visit, she had a beautiful smile and a great personality." Kramarczyk took photos and impressions of Jackson’s teeth and discussed what Jackson liked and disliked about her smile. On Jacksons second appointment she had an advanced power Zoom! Whitening performed on her teeth. "It’s the third generation in zooms, one-hour whitening systems and her results were dramatic." stated Kramarczyk. Karen’s teeth brightened 13 shades." This procedure made Jackson’s smile even more dazzling, but they weren’t done yet. One of Jackson’s biggest complaints about her smile was that one lower tooth stuck out further than the others. Since the beginning, Karen has been seeing an excellent chiropractor, Dr. John Donohue of A-1 Health and Wellness. "Dr. Donohue has been incredible to work with." says Jackson. Jackson’s first visit, covered her medical history and any symptoms she suffers from on a regular basis. Stress and insomnia were high on her list! Donohue also did x-rays of Jackson’s neck to see how things looked since her neck and shoulders were usually pretty stiff and where she carries most of her tension. After an evaluation, Donohue adjusted her neck, and they discussed positive and beneficial suggestions to cope with Jackson’s stress. "I have been seeing Dr. Donohue three times a week since the Makeover began, and he has done a world of good for me. Not only is he helping with the tightness in my neck and shoulders, he has also given me some good suggestions on how to deal with my stress." states Jackson.
